Olives

Olives are nature’s packaged form of olive oil. For convenience and ease of use humans have developed sophisticated mechanisms of extracting the oil from the olive, but if you want it “au natural” the olive fruit is the answer. We do nothing to the olive, simply hand pick it, wash it and pack it. The oil it contains is just as nature made it, with all the benefits highlighted below. And there is an added bonus, the olive skins contain valuable nutrients not seen in olive oil which assist digestion and intestinal mobility. So overall the olive is olive oil plus!

Olive & Good Health

Olives are not just delicious to eat but are an important source of good health. Most of the fatty acids in olives are mono unsaturated and no cholesterol. As an added bonus they contain Omega-6 linoleic acid. Olives also contain vitamins A,D,E, and K which all play vital roles in bone development, of particular importance to the young and elderly.

Olives for the heart and circulation

By increasing the level of HDL (the “good” cholesterol) and reducing the level of LDL (the “bad” cholesterol) olives improve the bodies circulation, lower blood pressure and can assist in regulating arrhythmic heartbeats. All very positive and as an added bonus olives have been shown to assist in combating insulin resistance and stabilising blood glucose levels for those prone to diabetes.

Olives & Anti-oxidisation

Foods we consume naturally lead to the formation of oxidants within the body, which if left untreated can have serious effects on cell destruction and organ failure. Olives contain significant amounts of antioxidants which protect us against cell damage. Our eyes, stomach, digestion and skin are all prone to cell damage and olives help in keeping us healthy in all these areas.

Olives as a beauty treatment!

Olives can have a very positive effect in developing and maintaining healthy and beautiful skin and hair. Recognised by ancient civilisations, olive oil is today included in many hair and cosmetic products worldwide. Its antioxidant properties mean it hydrates, protects, and rejuvenates, maintaining the skin’s elasticity and softness whilst preventing the ageing symptoms of wrinkles and fine lines. It is also mentioned as preventing skin cancer, and is a useful aid in skin allergy prevention. Not only skin and hair – but nails also. Olives, particularly black olives, contain significant amounts of elemental iron which helps in building strong and healthy nails.
